The Definitive Design Lover's Guide to the Hudson Valley
ByOctober 8, 2021
The upstate New York destination is brimming with rustic charm, handcrafted treasures, and design-forward hotels and eateries.
Just three hours north of New York City is Hudson Valley, a creative, yet laid-back destination for New Yorkers seeking a city escape. The region encompasses 10 counties and myriad waterfront cities and rural towns that frame the Hudson River. The area features forests, farmland, mountains, parks, and historic sites, offering something for every type of traveler.
Many stylish New Yorkers have made the move to Hudson Valley permanent, opening up galleries, home stores, antique and vintage shops, restaurants, and distilleries. To help get you started on your tour de Hudson Valley, we tapped five local creatives and designers—Anthony D’Argenzio, founder of creative studio Zio & Sons; Ana Claudia Schultz, interior designer and founder of Ana Claudia Design; interior designer Brad Ford; Stefanie Brechbühler, co-founder of design firm Workstead; and Shannon Wu, design connoisseur and owner of The Amelia—to tell us their can’t-miss spots to stay, eat, drink, and explore in the region.
Both Wu and D’Argenzio love the dried flower arrangements from The Quiet Botanist. The shop carries skincare, edible flowers, tea, and more. A spa recently opened and offers luxe facials.
