These flowers look like bunches of pearls, with whitish bracts and tiny yellow flowers at the center. The stems are pale and cottony with downy hairs. The leaves are linear – gray-green above, woolly-white beneath. Achillea of Pearl resembles a miniature strawflower.
The genus name Achillea refers to Achilles, hero of the Trojan Wars in Greek mythology, who used the plant medicinally to stop bleeding and to heal the wounds of his soldiers.
